Remember the theme song from the TV program called "Cheers?" We can probably hum the refrain, but here are
some words to go with it:
"Sometimes you wanna go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same
You wanna go where people know, people are all the same
Where everybody knows your name." ©
Living in Religious
Community is a lot like that. When we are most human, we are most
godlike, because God made us in his image. Living a common life means sharing the car, the TV, household chores, gardening and shoveling
snow and accepting that we are all different, yet all the same.
It means taking the time to pray and reflect together, caring and celebrating, and doing things to help each other deal
with the joy and stress of each day.
"And they're always glad you came."
